The dog
We are traveling with our 7- year-old male Rhodesian Ridgeback, Kaizen. We think this picture pretty much sums up his place in the family; King Kaizen.
Whenever I tell people his name I get one of two reactions. Some people say, “Oh I took a workshop on kaizen at the office.” Others ask: “Where did you get that name?”
Kaizen is a Japanese term meaning small incremental improvement for the better. It is a Japanese business philosophy that concerns the processes that continuously improve operations and involve all employees. Kaizen sees improvement in productivity as a gradual and methodical process.
As for where we got the name, well … off the internet, of course. We just liked the idea and the way it sounded. We also hoped that raising a 110 lb., high energy, very smart, sensitive dog would result in small incremental improvements in all three of us for the better.
Joining us along the way
We will be joined along the way by our neighbor, Lorna and our friends from Indianapolis, Bill and Susie. More about them later.
