Gary and I live in Waynesville, NC with our dog, Kaizen.
Gary and I are both risk takers. We have chosen adventure over caution, excitement over practicality, novelty over the norm our entire married life. We have changed jobs and moved from state to state on a whim. Gary rode his bike 100 miles in Death Valley, I rode the Hilly Hundred 4 months after finishing radiation for breast cancer.
And now we are retired. We both waited well beyond the normal retirement age of 65 to retire because retirement seemed like a big risk. Would we become irrelevant? Would we get fat and lazy? Would we have enough money? But true to our nature, we decided the best way to embrace our retirement, and our fears, was to take an even bigger risk. And so the planning started for our trip to Alaska.
Thank you for joining us. We will post stories from the road about our adventures. We also want to meet new people and hear their stories about the adventures and risks they have taken in their lives. When they allow us to, we will share those stories.
